§ 20-131. Test for accuracy of meter.

  • Any customer having reason to believe his meter is not registering accurately can have his meter tested by depositing an amount to be determined from time to time by the council and listed in the schedule of fees and charges maintained in the clerk's office, with his request to have his meter tested. If the meter accuracy is found to be within plus or minus two and one-half (2½) percent of true values, the deposit will be retained by the town to help defray expenses of testing. If the meter is found to be inaccurate by more than two and one-half (2½) percent, the deposit will be refunded and the meter will be adjusted to register within plus or minus one-half percent of true values. Adjustments of bills and enforcement of this section is provided for under the authority of G.S. sections 160-110 through 160-114.
