§ 4-62. Permit—Required; exceptions.

  • No electric wiring, devices, appliances or equipment shall be installed within or on any building, structure or premises nor shall any alteration or addition be made in any such existing wiring, devices, appliances or equipment without first securing a permit therefor from the electrical inspector, except as follows:

    (1)

    No permit shall be required unless it is necessary to revise or change wiring or make connection in the panel box or fuse center of the circuits involved. New circuits emanating from an existing panel box or fuse center or involving the installation of a new fuse center or panel box shall require a permit.

    (2)

    No permit shall be required for the installation, alteration or repair of wiring, devices, appliances or equipment for the operation of signals or the transmission of intelligence, where such wiring, device, appliance or equipment operates at a voltage not exceeding fifty (50) watts between conductors and does not include circuits emanating from an existing panel box or fuse center rated for more than fifty (50) watts of energy.

    (3)

    No permit shall be required for the installation, alteration or repair of electric wiring, devices, appliances and equipment installed by or for an electrical public service corporation for the use of such a corporation in generation, transmission, distribution or metering of electrical energy or for the use of such a corporation in the operation of signals or the transmission of intelligence.
