Part II. CODE OF ORDINANCES |
Chapter 9. HOUSING |
Article III. FAIR HOUSING CODE |
§ 9-70. Interpretation and conflict.
(a)
In interpreting and applying the provisions of this article, the purpose and spirit for which it is offered shall be of primary concern.
(b)
It is not intended by this article to interfere with, abrogate, annul or circumvent the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968, the Federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C.A. § 3601 et seq.), or other laws with regard to fair housing practices. The filing of a complaint under this article will not preclude the claim from being pursued in any other court or jurisdiction. It is intended to offer reasonable persons, acting in good faith, an opportunity to resolve their differences in an atmosphere of a nonadversary proceeding.
